Self-Detonation (also called Exploding) is the biological ability of a DNA Alternate to generate an exothermic reaction of explosive force. This process is fueled by chemical energy from the body, and a chemical reaction is responsible for the exothermic explosion. The energy required for the explosion is considerable, and the Alternate cannot explode multiple times back-to-back. After an explosion, the Alternate must replenish the lost chemical energy. There is a common misconception that the Alternate is destroyed by the explosion, and that they reform after. This is not true. The Alternate expels energy out of their body, creating an explosion of heat and concussive force.
