Petrification2

Petrification (Also called The Gorgon Effect, or The Medusa Effect) is the atomic ability of a DNA Alternate to transform organic matter into stone.

This ability has several varients. In some cases, the user must touch the target to turn them into stone. More commonly, however, the alternate with this power can actually transmit molecular instructions from the possessor's eyes to the receiver's eyes. In other words- they have merely to look at their target. This transfer then begins a chain reaction in the receiver's molecular state, bringing about a horribly painful transformation into petra. This transformation is termed Petrification and is basically molecular switching.

In the more common case, this ability is a mutation in the eye of the possessor, creating some sort of light-transmitting organelle that transmits instructions via light into the receiver's eyes, at which point, the molecules in the eyes switch from organic material to solid rock. This molecular switch spreads so quickly it can appear instantaneous, or slowly, depending entirely on the length of the eye-contact. This transformation is incredibly painful, and is often unstoppable once started.

However, glass (or possibly other substances as well) modifies the light signal coming from the eyes, making it incomprehensible to the molecules of the receiver. Windows, glasses, mirrors, even glass slippers. This is a major weakness in that people who wear glasses are immune, and anyone behind a window is immune likewise.
