Days Gone By
This is not our first rodeo.
Recently it was announced that Heroes would be filming a mini-series of Heroes reborn, a twelve episode story arc in the same universe as the original series. This came as great news to those of us who love the show and still carry on its legacy. However, it also occurred to me that this is our second wiki site. The first was mostly complete but then we wanted something more. We came here to do just that, but in the process we have lingered far too long in completing our mission.

Been a While...
So! Big news! The Jack of All Trades Regulation that was announced in 2010 on the RPG is finally explained on the Extraordinary Abilities page! Hats off to Two McMillion, who explained it in such great detail with his Width Vs. Breadth Theory of Power Design. Other additions include descriptions of Advanced powers, and Invidia powers! We're still in the process of working out how these apply to specific powers, like Advanced Electrokinesis or Advanced Radiogenesis. But hooray for having the basics!

All that categorization...
Alrighty then, so you've all seen that unsorted abilities category. You may be thinking to yourself, "Geez, that thing's been there for like, ever! Why don't the mods just categorize it so I can know what powers go with what?" Well, I hate to break your fragile fantasy, but it takes fantastic leaps of logic for us to figure out how to make super powers work, and then categorize them accordingly. I mean, if people could figure that out so easily, we'd all have super powers by now.
So, this is a warning: that unsorted abilities category is going to be around for a while. If you have any ideas for mutations that could actually make them happen, write them up on my talk page, and I'll make sure you're credited. At this point, I'm less worried a…
New powers category suggestion
How about a subcategory created in the unsorted abilities section for new abilities that have popped up on the site and need articles written about them? Ones that weren't on the old wiki. Any new ability could be created in there and reviewed by the wiki mods/staff before being approved and moved over to the correct category.
Placeholder group pages
To save time, I've created placeholder pages for several groups with the template already set up to make them easy to fill in. I've set up placeholders for the following groups:
Nemesis, Genesis, The Company, Danko's Men

I don't think I can remove a page fro a category once it's there, guys. If you make an "unsorted abilities" category, until I get some real mod powers I'm pretty sure the page is stuck there.
Groups category is a go!
I've added a new category to the character index for groups ran by various players on the RPG! I've already added the two that I'm directly a part of. Would love to see a Nemesis, Genesis, and Company entry up there at some point. See my Group Template for help in making your own group page!
Root categories and organizational stuff
I've figured out why I was having such a hard time organizing things here. Turns out, things like "Neurological Mutation" were both a page AND a category, leading to confusion for obvious reasons.
Anyway. What I'm doing at this point is linking a few "root categories" on the front page, and filing everything under them as needed. Right now the root categories are Information, Characters, and Abilities. More will probably need to be added. Under each of those, we have subcategories, such as canon or original characters. Ideally, this will help make navigation easier.
So, my present work is making sure everything we have now is placed in the proper category (I don't think I'm going to add much more until organization is a little better, anyway…
Recipe of the month: Easy Swedish Pancakes
- 3 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups low-fat milk
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs with half the milk.
- Beat in flour and salt until smooth.
- Stir in melted butter and remaining milk.
- Heat a griddle or large skillet with a small amount of vegetable oil.
- For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup batter onto the griddle and cook over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes.
- With a spatula, turn the pancakes and cook until golden brown, about 1/2 minute.
- Serve immediately or keep warm while making the remaining pancakes.
- Eat, and then go and pet a cat, because cats are snuggly and adorable!
Category for groups?
Would it be alright if I added another category under the character index for group articles? Nemesis, Genesis, Ghost, other miscellaneous groups of characters? Just a sort of place for any organised group of individuals.
Please take the cat as a bribe. It's adorable.

If anyone here decides to write an "explanatory" article along the lines of what makes a banned power or what makes a restricted power, know that I have a standard image I'm using for such articles:
This just serves to show the article is intended primarily as an explanation of rules/themes/etc for the main site.

Adding pictures
Just a note folks. Y'all are doing a great job adding powers and stuff, but if you add a picture, please make sure you're not violating any copyright laws. I don't want to fall afoul of an legal body.
This is not in response to any particular image uploaded, just a note I'd like people to be aware of.
I believe google images will sort results by license. Also, images from wikipedia and heroeswiki should be okay. Mainly, I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this and steered clear of possible trouble.

The Plan of Things to Come
Right, so here's the plan I'm going with. I'm going to start with the big category pages. Biological mutations, elemental mutations, energy manipulation... etc. A few others too, such as banned abilities, power farming abilities, restricted powers, etc. Make the categories, and then put pages in them. Not to hard, just a long road ahead of us.

So, for all you peeps out there who don't keep up with EA (no, the other EA, as in, Electronic Arts), Mass Effect 3 will be released on Tuesday, and I expect to go into an Xbox cave for about a month or so and play the hell out of it. I'll still drop in every day to check messages and edit everyone's contributions. I'll also be earning enough achievements to stay on top of the leader board, so don't get any funny ideas (*cough*Eevi*cough*).
Anyway, I'll still be around this weekend, albeit playing through Mass Effect 2 to gear up for Tuesday. If you need anything, let me know.
